A well-maintained steel door lasts 20–30 years, but springs, rollers and openers wear out sooner. Springs typically last 7–10 years and openers 12–15 years.

Noise usually comes from worn steel rollers, loose hinges or a chain-drive opener. Nylon rollers and lubrication often cut noise in half, and a belt-drive opener makes the biggest difference.

Small dents can sometimes be left alone or pushed out, but creased panels lose strength. We can usually order a matching section if the door is less than 15–20 years old.
